Cathedral of the Virgin Mary’s Immaculate Conception
In one of the most historical and vivid areas of Thessaloniki is located theCatholic Church or 'Frangoklissia', as it was known in the past. It is built on an earlier church position and was rescued from the devastating fire in 1917 that burned a large part of the center of Thessaloniki. Its construction was completed in 1899 to designs by the Italian architect Vitaliano Poselli and follows the three-aisled basilica.
